Important UPDATE in Sep 2021 Individuals caught in possession of class A drugs in Scotland could be issued with a police warning rather than facing prosecution, in a significant policy shift announced by the country’s new lord advocate as a direct response to the ongoing drug death crisis. At last a sensible change, but they must carry it through and lock up dealers (yes even local street dealers) for at least 10 years (with no parole) or even more otherwise nothing will change for the average user living in a hell from which there is only one way out - Death!

Drugs (Heroin) and the Police.

The stupidity of the Police and their complete ignorance of the medical problems that drug addiction involves is staggering. The Police by their ignorance and stupidity are the cause of most of the "petty crime" that addicts have to be involved in to deal with their pharmaceutical addictions. Drug addiction costs an individual a minimum of £30 a day every day 365 days a year. The only way to manage that is to be either rich, get involved in "petty crime" or die! Shoot the dealers or shoot the addicts or put up with the shoplifting and other "petty crimes". The chances of an individual getting off class A drugs in their life time is probably 1 in a thousand. The chances of dying from an overdose are probably 1 in 10! The richer the addict is the sooner they will die because they can always have "just a little bit more"; and that is all that is needed to stop the breathing response and then life and its difficulties are no longer a problem because the addict is DEAD!

There is no escaping the trap of addiction! Whether you are the child of a pauper or of a billionaire once that step of "I'll try just a little" has been taken the slide into hell has started. The more money you have the sooner you will die because you will overdose one sunny day, go to sleep and never wake up. Every day the gamble of injection is taken on! Will I survive or not is always the question. For some of course the answer is NO! So many pop stars, celebrities, rich, famous and of course the penniless all end up in the same way - DEAD!

So the drugs problem is with us forever. We are capable of destroying the opium poppy crops on a worldwide basis; but we don’t do that because it is the product we enable the farmers to grow (Iraq for instance), and we protect their right to do that – unbelievable but true. We can get rid of all the dealers but we would need at least twice as many cops to do that – and that is not acceptable. So we have to accept “petty crime - shop lifting” to pay for the daily hit of thousands of addicts. We lock up a handful of criminals on a yearly basis, and we condemn anyone who has been conned into the addictions of the drugs-world into living in the horrific world of drugs incorporated.

There is no end this merciless hell that people find themselves trapped in! So either the government should supply pharmaceutical quality heroin (at least 1 Chief Constable supports such a clinical approach) and therefore cut out the crime, the money and the drug dealers or shoot the addicts and then there is almost no petty crime! Companies like Horizon while maintaining the pretence they are helping addicts just make the whole matter even worse through stupidity, ignorance and dishonesty. You only have to look at America to see where drug addiction in the UK is headed!

The Norwegian Model is an excellent one (government sponsored heroin twice a day) but it means accepting heroin as an everyday drug, and no one likes that idea. USA had a good idea of course with the pharmaceutical drug “oxycontin / oxycodone” and that was great until they finally admitted it was effectively heroin from the GP (or USA equivalent) and then the legs fell off that idea. So the number of addicts keeps increasing and the drug world bosses gets ever richer. And it is paid for by those with almost nothing except “petty crime” to bring in the pittance a day they need to survive. So drugs are with us for ever just as “petty crime” is to pay for it. What a horrible world we live in ! The story below is just a tiny part of the drug world in which addicts have to survive - MANY do NOT! LAURA LEWIS did NOT, she is DEAD!

Court Case in York in 2012 & rescuing Laura Lewis from Turkey

So, in 2012 on the advice of my solicitor I pleaded guilty to supplying Class A drugs to my friend the late Ruth Laura Lewis. I wasn't supplying her with Class A drugs, I was returning her drugs to her as she left them in my car! Is that suppling ???

Laura was a lovely young lady with a number of problems. What she needed was help and understanding not harassment from a variety of sources; some of whom should be ashamed of themselves and some of whom were driven purely by greed and sensationalism. Having asked the Police and NHS many times over the years for help with Laura’s addiction problems and got nowhere, I was struggling to find a way forward with Laura.

On one occasion the police asked me if I knew how many young females kill themselves a year and would I stop pestering them. They will not help and they will make sure no else does either!

Laura had a number of major problems that she continuously wrestled with – mental health issues, addictions and boy friends:

I had taken Laura to Detox5 in Harrogate;

I had taken her to see her GP numerous times;

I had taken her to meet the mental health teams;

I had taken her to a private therapist in Leeds;

I had taken her to a consultant neurologist also in Leeds;

I had taken her to York Infirmary many times.

I had taken her to Bootham hospital;

I had taken her to Lifeline in York many times but they seem to be as thoroughly dishonest as it is possible to be for an organization supposedly helping drug addicts. I even went to see the North Yorkshire POLICE COMMISIONER to complain about Lifeline (no wonder they lost the contract) and to discuss other matters associated with this situation.

In April 2013 Laura asked me to go to Turkey and then to Cyprus as she was in CRISIS and needed help with baby son Alfie. Later on in October 2013 she asked me to go to London to collect her as she was again in CRISIS, this time because of Paul (Pavlos) Maneros.

In April 2013 I was asked to go to Bodrum in Turkey to assist Laura with her baby son Alfie. Unfortunately the correct paper work was not completed at his birth and therefore at the age of 6 months he became an illegal immigrant. Not that anyone cared at that stage of course. But it became apparent that steps would have to be taken to get him the correct documents. I quite easily solved the UK passport problem, but he still needed the Turkish document to make him a legal citizen. By good fortune Laura had a female friend who actually knew the Governor (very powerful government official in the area where we lived) and arranged a meeting with him for Laura. She came out of that meeting with what she believed was a promise to straighten out Alfie’s status. Sadly that did not work out and panic set in. Our efforts to leave Turkey then became fraught with difficulty because of the lack of correct documents. We were stopped at customs and arrested. The only way forward I could see was to pay out a large sum to the policemen to allow us out (a large bribe). The negotiations took some time and involved me being marched to the cash machine by 2 armed guards. Once the money was sorted out they actually became quite friendly and arranged for a private friend of theirs to take us to Rhodes and the fore Europe. That journey was crazy to say the least but much to my surprise we did indeed end up in the Rhodes harbour, and shortly after the correct visas were in all our passports (nobody noticed Alfie’s passport was missing the correct Turkish details) but we had escaped from Turkey and were now legally in the EU.

The next day we arrived in Limassol and found accommodation fairly close to what was then a Large Debenhams department store. Things moved on and Laura found herself another boyfriend - Paul Maneros. He threatened to kill me so I promptly returned to the UK. I was arrested at Manchester Airport and returned to York in a police Prison Van. Things didn’t work out for Laura and so in October 2013 I was heading off to London to rescue her this time from Paul Maneros. The Met police assisted me and I took Laura back to York. Alfie has already been handed over to his father Roy Wakefield. Laura was severely traumatised by all that happened and I contacted the York Police because I wanted them involved in what I suspected was going to be a difficult few weeks and I wanted some kind of legal protection and involvement - see details of her death below.

In 2012 I had followed my solicitors advice the first time I was in York Court and the result was my pleading guilty to 1 instance of supplying Class A drugs to Laura. I was not happy with the Court proceedings but never had the opportunity to speak. However when I was taken back to Court in August 2013 I was well prepared and presented the court with a 10 page dossier explaining my actions in detail; my actions in Turkey and in Cyprus; the actions of the police; the actions of Laura and also those of several third parties.

I also pointed out that had I not rescued them from a BLAZING INFERNO Laura and her son Alfie would have died in a fire in Limassol Cyprus in July 2013 that completely gutted her apartment.

And finally I pointed out:

Were it not for me Alfie (6 months) would never have got his UK passport.

Were it not for me Laura and Alfie would not have escaped from Turkey.

Were it not foe me Laura would not have got to Rhodes, Athens, Limasol.

Were it not for me Laura and Alfie would not have got to Cyprus and safety.

Were it not for me Laura and Alfie would have DIED in Limasol Cyprus.

Were it not for me Laura would not have escaped from Paul Maneros & London.

As a result in Court the CPS offered no evidence and indeed had nothing to say at all. The Court magistrates accepted the explanation for my actions concerning Laura in its entirety, and revoked the punishments. Basically the Court agreed with me!

It may come as a surprise to the police but they are supposed to protect human life and not be the cause of the death of people. Why should I be at odds with the police when my intention is to save human life ? Take the case of Toni Speck who died in police custody at Fulford Police Station, York in June 2012 as an example of how the police were involved in the death of another vulnerable young female. Also the complete lack of understanding and compassion as far as Laura was concerned is quite startling and totally disgraceful.

The opinion of the Durham Chief Constable Mike Durham is particularly relevant to this case where his opinion that drug addiction should be decriminalized and drug addicts should be "treated and cared for not criminalized” is entirely appropriate.

The police profess to have “Zero Tolerance” for drug dealers yet there are dealers operating in York (and I expect in many other places) who have not been bothered by the police despite distributing class A drugs. The latest development in this case is that Paul (Pavlos) Maneros of Enfield London, 1 of the 2 men linked with Laura and her death, has been caught red handed by 2 armed police officers in the act of criminal damage and theft and has been arrested and taken to the police station.

So Keith Murty has saved Laura's Life and that of her son Alfie; he has also had his sentence REVOKED by York Court Magistrates. Maneros has pleaded guilty to the charge of Criminal Damage. Karma is a word that I have heard Maneros use and he is quite right in his belief as it is working for him exactly as it should. Once again justice has been brought to the misguided men who plague our streets. He stole every item that Laura possessed even the photo album of her and her baby Alfie that we had taken while we were in Turkey.

The police have no idea how to cope with drug addicts. They have no comprehension of the pain addicts live their lives in. They have no understanding of the word "rattling". Addicts are not criminals, they are victims of the pressure that drugs put on the individual to get that hit and to get it NOW! The end result of course is very often DEATH. There is always the Drug Company Horizon that appears to be the answer to the problem. They are friendly, helpful only wishing the best for their addicts. Rubbish! They are a bunch of lying, misguided, morons who should not be allowed anywhere near addicts. Yes I know thy are a bunch of ex addicts and all the boloney that goes with it - they are worse than useless!

The whole tragic story of Laura Lewis culminates in her DEATH in York hospital on Friday 18 Oct 2013. I had taken her to A&E the night before and went in again that Friday morning with a number of items of clothing and personal effects, but was met by the police and informed that she was dead. I had involved the police almost every day in the week before her death and was disgusted with the treatment she had received in the hospital.

The reason for her death is known but the cause is yet to be decided by an inquest. I have already submitted a detailed explanation of the circumstances surrounding her death to the CORONER in 2013; and the part played by the 2 men who were, in my opinion, responsible for her death. The character of Maneros that I described to the coroner has been confirmed by his actions and behaviour that led to his arrest in York in June 2014. Laura Lewis died on the 18 Oct 2013, she was a wonderful person and a very caring mother. Her last thought would have been for her children Connor and Alfie who she loved with all her heart.

"On the 6th of May 2015 at Laura's inquest the Coroner heard that a former boyfriend Paul Maneros had been threatening to kill Laura Lewis before she cut her wrists and neck. PC Nick Garbutt said, in a statement, that he had been called to a flat in Feversham Crescent after threats had allegedly been made by an ex-boyfriend Paul Maneros in London to kill Ms Lewis and a York man, Keith Murty. He said he had found Ms Lewis and Mr Murty in the flat, and Mr Keith Murty had said that he had ‘rescued her’ from the boyfriend Paul Maneros in London and brought her back to York, and the Metropolitan Police had been involved in the matter. The police officer said that while he was at the flat, Ms Lewis’s phone rang and he could hear the caller, speaking in an aggressive voice, say: “You could do everyone a favour and commit suicide.” A statement by Royden Wakefield, a different former boyfriend of Ms Lewis, which was read out at the inquest, made a number of allegations against Mr Keith Murty, including claims that he had abused Ms Lewis (were it not for me she would have been dead months before the dreadful outcome in October 2013). The coroner, Jonathan Leach, invited Mr Murty, a retired squadron leader, to respond to the allegations by Mr Roy Wakefield, and say whether any of them were true. He said they were not true but was refused permission to say anything more."
